You know what ? I am happy.
After 80 surftrips in more than 50 different countries, I found my paradise : the Maldives. Since 1999 when I first got there at Club Med & Tari on a short hop from Sri Lanka, I always had good to great overall surf conditions.
Then in June 2004, Oxbow put a crew of pros and shooting producers
in my hands to
explore the Central atolls with
a seaplane. John Callahan & Tony Hussein had found YinYang in
1996 and we found Mikado and a bunch of others spots. Enough
virgin
spots to launch Maldivesurf boat charters in 2005.
Since then, more than twenty groups have enjoyed those
surfer-friendly waves with our competent surfguide or myself. Maldives is not as big and powerful than Mentawaii or South Pacific islands but there is much more for the "honest" surfer : health & education in the villages, safety in terms of reef dangers, disease, natural disaster and civil strife, deluxe tourism structures and easy access (for Europe and Asia).
Make or join a group of surfing friends and come on a surf
boat charter to cruise the Central atolls spots. And maybe
ride the best waves of your life !
